Green Mountain Announces 150MW TikTok Campus
Our top story this month focuses on the Norwegian data centre company, Green Mountain.
Green Mountain has made two major project announcements in March, the first being their 150MW data centre campus to be built in Norway for Chinese social media company TikTok.
The site is to be comprised of 5 x 30MW buildings, with the first building due for completion in 2023.
The CEO of green mountain stated
“This is the first hyperscale data centre of this scale in Norway and we are grateful for TikTok’s vote of confidence in the project. The site will become a true example of our vision of Setting the green standard.”
Along with this huge announcement, Green Mountain also announced a 54MW joint venture project with energy company KMW in Frankfurt.
The German authorities have approved the building application, and construction is due to start in Q3 2023.
"Project Clover" Tik Tok Data Centre Confirmed For Dublin
Over in Ireland, TikTok has confirmed that its second Irish data centre will be located in Dublin.
The social media company announced details of 'Project Clover', a plan to address concerns about data security.
The project will involve European user information being stored at two data centres in Dublin and at a third at its upcoming project in Norway.
Microsoft Announces 3 Greek Data Centres
In other news, Microsoft has announced 3 x new data centres to be located in Greece. This will compromise of 2 x 9.6MW centres and also a 19.2MW centre.
Construction is expected to start this year, upon securing the required building permits.
Colt Data Centre Breaks Ground On London Campus
Finally, over in the UK, Colt Data Centre Services have broken ground on a new data centre campus in London.
Located in Hayes, the site will feature two buildings totalling 57MW. The buildings will be five stories tall and contain a total of 18 data halls.
Niclas Sanfridsson, the CEO of Colt, said: "We are extremely excited to announce our newest ground-breaking data centre in London. We worked closely with the local community and stakeholders through the planning process to intricately shape all aspects of this development”
